After the North Coast Railway was completed in 1924 stock could be moved in and out of the district by train. There were stockyards at Bilyana where cattle were held. Auction sales also took place.
Before the days of large semi-trailers, bananas and other
farm produce grown at Murray Upper and Bilyana were brought to this siding and loaded into railway trucks for southern markets.
